Having been under the shadow of the Joint Action Committee all these days, the Telangana Congress MLAs have now started thinking out of their box.
On Tuesday, the Telangana Congress MLAs met at the residence of Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao and came out with an innovative idea: boycotting the budget session of the assembly beginning on February 15, if the terms of reference of the Justice Srikrishna Committee are not in favour of the formation of separate Telangana state.
“We, the Telangana Congress MLAs, have decided to keep away from the budget session of the assembly to register our protest if there is no mention of Telangana in the Srikrishna Committee and there is no specific time frame for formation of separate state. We will see how the Rosaiah government pass the budget without the Telangana MLAs,” Gajwel MLA Narsa Reddy and former MLA T Jeevan Reddy declared.
Well, the idea did not strike JAC convenor Prof M Kodandaram, who has only been demanding that the MLAs resign. If all the other party MLAs follow the Cong leaders, then the assembly would have to be run with just 175 MLAs. It is yet to be seen how the other group reacts to it.
