High level panel calls for reforms at World Bank

Washington, Oct 22  A high level commission that looked into governance reforms at the World Bank Group has recommended a slew of measures, including changes in the leadership selection process at the bank.

The external review of the bank's governance was completed by a 11-member group headed by former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo.

HSBC, others resume talks for RBS Asia units

Hong Kong: HSBC has resumed talks with Royal Bank of Scotland over the sale of the remaining retail and commercial units that the bailed out UK bank owns in Asia, sources familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

HSBC and other banks have approached RBS and its advisers about the auction after Standard Chartered's exclusive negotiations with RBS expired recently, the sources said.

U.S. bank, financial stocks off after rally last week

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of Citigroup Inc fell as much as 7.5 percent on Monday amid a broad slide in financial stocks, after rallying over the last week.

 

The sector was also hit by a report from veteran analyst Dick Bove at Rochdale Securities suggesting that in the short-term "a reaction to the recent move up in the stocks may develop."
