Ulema of Bareilly support fatwa against Vande Mataram

Bareilly, Nov 5  Ulema of Bareilvy sect today endorsed the fatwa issued by Deoband clerics against reciting of national song Vande Mataram.

"We also think that fatwa issued against Vande Mataram is right because in Islam it is not permitted to worship any other God. Although we love our country but we cannot worship it. Our Prophet has preached us to love our country. We love it," Sajjada Nasheen of Dargahe Ala Hazrat Maulana Subhan Raza Khan said here today.

Chhattisgarh against commercial farming of Bt Brinjal

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government said on Saturday it would not allow commercial cultivation of genetically modified Bt Brinjal in the state till a study of its effects on humans and animals is done.

Agriculture Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu has dashed off letters to union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh on the matter. "The state will not permit commercial cultivation of Bt Brinjal till a comprehensive trial of its effects and fallout on human beings and animals is completed," Sahu said in his letter to the ministers.

40-45 per cent votes cast in Arunachal till noon

Itanagar, Oct 13  About 45 per cent voters exercised their franchise till midday today to elect 57 MLAs in Arunachal Pradesh where polling was suspended in a booth after a scuffle broke out between two groups.

Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and two other Congress candidates have already been elected unopposed from the three seats in Tawang district.

New Delhi, Oct 13 People can watch live webcast of the actual polling process in remote and inaccessible polling stations in Arunachal Pradesh, thanks to IT revolution.

The Election Commission has made special arrangements for the live coverage of the process in 11 polling stations in as many assembly constituencies situated in far flung areas in the state.

Shoot-at-sight orders against booth capturers

Itanagar,Oct 13  Shoot-at-sight orders were today issued against booth capturers or those attempting to damage EVMs in Papumpare district and in the state capital during the assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh.

This was decided at a meeting of the district magistrates and police superintendents of the two districts, a senior official said.
