Three militants killed in Manipur gunfight

Imphal: Three militants were killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles personnel in Imphal East district of Manipur, an official report said on Monday.

Report said the personnel of 28th Assam Rifles battalion enganged in a gunfight with militants on Saturday night at Uran Chiru, about 15 km southeast of here. Three militants were killed in the ensuing gunfight, the report said adding that one AK-56 rifle, one 9 mm and .32 revolver were recovered along with ammunition from the spot.

The bodies were sent to Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital here for post-mortem. So far over 350 persons have been killed in militancy-related incidents in Manipur this year.
