Greater Noida, Oct 12 A 35-year-old domestic maid, who had levelled rape charges against her employer, today allegedly committed suicide by setting herself afire here.
The deceased identified as Poonam Tripathi, a resident of Noida, who had suffered over 70 per cent burns, succumbed to her injuries at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, police said.
According to police, the victim was domestic maid at a house at Sector 71 in Noida, and had in a written complaint last month charged her employer Trigun Pandey with sexually abusing her on pretext of marriage.
Today she came to Pandey's friend Satish Pundir's house in sector Beta I in Greater Noida where she attempted suicide after inquiring whereabouts of her employer, they said.
Pundir gave her the Hyderabad address of Pandey, where his wife lives, and mobile numbers available with him, but she was not satisfied.
